Why not give a pet for Christmas?

Giving a pet for Christmas is not a good idea. Different studies reveal that more than 30% of the animals that are given away at Christmas are abandoned or given away again months later. A pet is a living being, it is not a toy that you get tired of when it is old. Needs care, attention and a lot of love, in return they will give us their love and company all of their lives.
Reasons why you should not give a pet at Christmas
The fact of having a pet is something that must be thought through, it must be very meditated by the whole family. Responsibilities and obligations should be distributed and only if you are very clear and there is commitment, you can take the step, otherwise it is better to avoid it.
Normally, it is the children who ask for pets as if it were a toy, but it is something that must be weighed well. Above all, the child must be educated to learn that a pet is not a toy. He must learn to take care of him and fulfill certain obligations with his new friend.
Before giving a pet there are some doubts that all members of the family must consider. Do you really have enough time to attend to it? In the case of dogs not only you have to take care of them at home but you have to take them out to the street to run, socialize and also do their needs.
Having a pet involves a series of expenses … can you afford it? Daily expenses on food, toys, insurance, visits to the veterinarian, medications … all are obligatory expenses in which not many people consider when they think of giving a pet.
Do not forget to ask other important questions such as if there are people with allergies to animals in the home. Where will they live? Can they be provided with a space where they are comfortable and not crowded? and perhaps the most important … if really the person who has asked for it wants a pet?
